Bio | Dr. Simone Lundquist

Dr. Simone Lundquist is an influential thought leader, an educator, a seasoned counselor, and an international authority on human resilience. With a career spanning over 40 years, including being a well-loved professor at San José State University, she has dedicated her life to helping individuals navigate the darkest chapters of their lives impacted by trauma. Her extensive academic training and three master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, deep studies in quantum physics and spirituality, along with her lived experiences, led her to develop Tri-Axis Narrative Theory to foster true healing, resilience and creativity.

She is the Founder and Executive Director of Open Doors to Future Possibilities (Est. January 2019), a Bay Area nonprofit that has provided free-of-charge counseling and supportive services to over 8,000 Veterans and their families and $10 an hour counseling and tutoring services to over 1,000 low-income community members.

Dr. Lundquist has helped women who have suffered verbal, physical and sexual abuse, and violence all over the world. She personally ran three safehouses in San Jose for five years. She has worked on the front lines of global crises with the United Nations and the International Red Cross, supporting our troops and the survivors of war, torture, and violence.

Dr. Lundquist has received many accolades and recognition including the Nonprofit Excellence Award from the YWCA of Silicon Valley, and the “Mental Health Hero” from Assembly District 28. She has been known as the “Miracle Worker,”, and was recognized as the 2026 Remarkable Woman of the Year by KRON4 and Nexstar Media.

As an active participant in the community, Dr. Lundquist is:

  • Board Member of the Veterans Memorial and Support Foundation of Los Gatos
  • Jury Member on the San Jose Rotary Neurodivergent Committee
